Nitroglycerine Explosion

On Wednesday, June 19, a massive accidental tunnel explosion occurred a mile north of Cisco. According to a news report, it took the life of a “white man Burns, having a wife and family at Cisco,” and “five Chinamen,” who were “blown up” and “horribly mangled.” The thunder from the disastrous explosion reverberated for miles up into the foothills, heard no doubt by the omnipresent Railroad Chinese.
